Greetings chosen ones,
Today let’s ponder alongside the psalmist, asking, “what can we give to God for all that he’s done?”
What shall I give to Yahweh in return For all His bountiful dealings with me?
Psalm 116:12
It’s fascinating how the psalmist begins this psalm by declaring his love for God: “I love Yahweh, because He hears My voice and my supplications. — Psalm 116:1. Towards the end, he poses a significant question, recognizing God’s protection in times of distress and his reliance solely on God, even calling all men liars, indicating his trust solely in God.
With all these declarations, the psalmist ponders, “What shall I give to God?”
The psalmist quickly concludes that there’s nothing he can give back to God for all He’s done. The only thing he can offer is total submission and trust in God.
O Yahweh, surely I am Your slave, I am Your slave, the son of Your maidservant,You have loosed my bonds.
Psalm 116:16
In total submission, the psalmist declares himself a slave of God, acknowledging God’s liberation from the bonds of sin and iniquity.
Furthermore, he commits to proclaiming God’s goodness to all nations, “I shall pay my vows to Yahweh, Oh may it be in the presence of all His people.” — Psalm 116:18, unashamed of his ‘slave’ status in relation to God.
Let’s reflect on our submission to God:
- Acknowledging: Recognizing all that God has done in our lives.
- Gratitude: Understanding that God has done more than we can repay.
- Total submission: Fully surrendering to His lordship.
May this provide insight into our relationship with God.
Blessings, Paul.
