About Us
Welcome to Open The Word | Fungua Neno, a labor of love crafted by a husband and wife duo deeply passionate about Jesus Christ. Our mission is simple yet profound: to inspire believers to cultivate a daily habit of immersing themselves in the scriptures and to extend a warm invitation to nonbelievers to experience the grace of salvation.
Preaching The Word
Preaching & Teaching
We thank God for the preaching and teaching opportunities that we have been privileged to have. Here is a collection of some of the content from our general preaching and teaching opportunities.
Our Approach
Sanctification By The Word Of God!
Rooted in our unwavering belief in the transformative power of the Word of God, we are fueled by the conviction expressed in John 17:17, where Jesus declares, ‘Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.’ We firmly uphold the existence of absolute truth and firmly believe that embracing and living out this truth is the pathway to sanctification. Join us on this journey of faith as we seek to empower believers to faithfully serve Jesus Christ and witness the life-changing power of His Word.

Our Convictions
Our Statement Of Faith
Bible
We affirm the Bible, encompassing both the Old and New Testaments, as the sole divinely inspired, inerrant, objectively true, and authoritative written Word of God. It serves as the unchanging authority for matters of faith, belief, and practice. While recognizing that divine inspiration pertains to the original manuscripts, we uphold translations such as the KJV, NASB, and ESV as faithful representations of the original texts, essential for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16-17).
God
We believe in one God, the Creator, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—as revealed in Scripture (Matt. 28:19). God is infinite, personal, and the ultimate authority over all creation (Gen. 1:1, Isa. 43:10).
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, God the Son, is eternal and fully divine, conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary (Matt. 1:23-25). He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose bodily on the third day, and ascended to heaven, where He now intercedes for believers (1 Cor. 15:3-4, Heb. 4:14-16).
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, is God and a distinct person, not merely a force. His ministries include conviction of sin, regeneration, indwelling believers, and empowering them for service (John 3:5-8, Acts 1:8, 1 Cor. 12:3-13).
Human Race
Both men and women are created in God’s image for a personal relationship with Him (Gen. 1:26-27). Due to sin, humanity is separated from God and in need of salvation, which is only possible through Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:12-21).
Salvation
Salvation is solely by God’s grace through faith in Christ’s atoning sacrifice (Eph. 2:8-9). Believers are assured of eternal life, while unbelievers face eternal separation from God (John 3:16, Rom. 6:23).
Sanctification
Believers are sanctified and set apart by God, growing in holiness through yielding to the Holy Spirit (Heb. 10:10). While perfection in conduct is not attained in this life, believers are called to obedient living (Phil. 3:12).
Church
The Church, Christ’s Body, consists of all believers and is called to worship, instruction, fellowship, stewardship, and service (Matt. 28:18-20). Believers are commanded to participate in church ordinances, including baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Matt. 26:26-29).
Satan
Satan, originally an angelic being, rebelled against God and became the author of sin (Gen. 3:1). He will ultimately be defeated by Jesus Christ and face eternal punishment (Rev. 20:10).
Gospel
The Gospel stands as the cornerstone of Jesus Christ’s teachings, emphasizing the Kingdom of God (Matt. 4:23, 9:35, 24:14, Mark 1:14-15, Luke 4:43, 16:16). It unveils the reality that, as sinners deserving eternal separation from God (Matt. 18:7-9, 25:41, 25:46, Rom. 6:23, Jude 1:7, Rev. 14:11), Jesus bore the weight of our transgressions through his sacrificial death on the cross (Isa. 53:1-12, John 1:29, 3:16, 19:30, Rom. 5:6-10, 6:23, 1 Cor. 6:20), triumphantly rising on the third day (Matt. 28:1-20, Mark 16:1-20, Luke 24:1-12, John 20:1-29, Acts 3:15, 4:33, 1 Cor. 15:3-8). By repenting of our sins and placing our trust in Jesus (Matt. 3:2, 4:17, Mark 1:15, Luke 24:47, Acts 3:19-21, 20:21, 2 Tim. 2:25-26), we inherit eternal life with Him (Mark 10:29-30, John 3:15-16, 5:24, 17:3, 20:31, Rom. 6:22-23, 2 Cor. 4:16-18). This transformative message offers hope and redemption for all humanity.
The Second Coming
We affirm the personal, visible, and impending return of our Lord Jesus Christ to earth, culminating in the establishment of His eternal kingdom. This momentous event encompasses the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, and the eternal destiny of both the righteous and the wicked (John 14:3, Acts 1:11, 1 Thess. 4:13-18, Rev. 19:11-16, 20:1-15). As believers, we eagerly anticipate His glorious return, which heralds the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan and the consummation of His kingdom.
Marriage, Gender, And Sexuality
We affirm that marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God, intended for one man and one woman (Gen. 2:24, Matt. 19:4-6). Gender, as defined by Scripture, is binary—male and female—each bearing unique roles and characteristics designed by God to complement one another (Gen. 1:27). We believe that God’s divine plan for sexuality and marriage is immutable, and any deviation from His design constitutes sin (1 Cor. 6:9-11, Rom. 1:26-27, Eph. 5:31). As stewards of God’s creation, we uphold the sanctity of marriage and affirm the inherent dignity of each individual created in His image.
Missions
We affirm the Church’s divine mandate, entrusted by God, to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-48, John 20:21, Acts 1:8). Our mission is to reach every people group, tribe, and language with the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we are called to actively engage in cross-cultural evangelism, utilizing every available means to proclaim the gospel both locally and globally (2 Cor. 5:20). We recognize the urgency of this task and are committed to fulfilling it with unwavering dedication and fervent prayer.
Spiritual Gifts
We affirm that God, in His sovereignty, bestows spiritual gifts upon believers to build up the Church and advance the Gospel (Rom. 12:4-8, 1 Cor. 12:1-31, Eph. 4:11-16). These gifts are divinely appointed and uniquely tailored to each believer. As stewards of these gifts, believers are called to cultivate and utilize them for the glory of God and the mutual benefit of the Body of Christ (1 Pet. 4:10-11). We recognize the diversity of spiritual gifts within the Church and encourage believers to earnestly seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in discerning and exercising their gifts for the common good.
The Final State
We affirm the biblical teaching regarding the ultimate destiny of all humanity. There will be a bodily resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous—those who are saved to eternal life and those who are unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (Matt. 25:46, John 5:28-29, Rev. 20:5-6, 20:11-15). This solemn reality underscores the importance of living in accordance with God’s will and embracing the salvation offered through Jesus Christ, who alone provides the hope of eternal life. As believers, we anticipate the glorious fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan and the establishment of His eternal kingdom.
