Hello beloved,
Let’s journey with King Solomon as he reflects on the concluding chapter of Ecclesiastes:
The conclusion, when all has been heard: fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
By now, the preacher has pondered the validity of wealth, possessions, pleasure, labor, life’s vanity, and the folly of simplicity. After considering all these, he arrives at one conclusion: “the crux of all matters is to Fear God and keep His commandments… For God will judge all deeds, both good and evil.”
This conclusion should bring joy to believers, knowing we are securely covered by the righteousness of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the abundance of His love, God bestowed salvation through His Son.
Life inundates us with various distractions: pleasure, pain, suffering, loss, grief, lack, anxiety, fear, despair, the pursuit of happiness, wealth, societal status, and more. While these seem substantial, as believers, we must conclude, as Apostle Paul did, “to live is Christ…” — Philippians 1:21.
Here are practical reminders from this passage:
- Life boils down to obedience and reverence for God.
- Our lives should aim to be “worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him” — Colossians 1:10.
- We will all face judgment and give an account for our deeds as we await our Master’s return.May this word prompt us to “walk careful, not as fools but as wise” — Ephesians 5:15.
With Love, Paul.
